We
began putting this flock together in the fall of 2003. Our initial
purchase consisted of a small group of select club lamb ewes from
Brad Smith of Lockney, Texas. Brad was generous enough to supply us
with a ram lamb as well. We had our first lamb crop in the spring of
2004. The ewes are percentage Cabaniss with some Harrell in their
background. The ram, Gladiator(324), is a Caesar x Trademark.
Our first lamb crop proved quite successful in the show ring, having
winners at the County show level as well as several class winners on
the Texas Club Lamb Association circuit.
In 2004, we decided to increase our flock size by purchasing a
sizeable group of yearlings and mature ewes from Brad Smith, Barton
Club Lambs, Miller Hampshires and Robinson Club Lambs. The majority
of our 2005 lamb crop is sired by Gladiator 324. We were fortunate
enough to breed some select ewes to the Cabaniss bred Buck "Streak"
owned by the Bartons of Christoval, Texas. Most of our January and
February lambs are out of " Streak". We also own two bucks in
partnership with Gerald Wilke of Blanco, Texas. 445 is a line bred
Caesar grandson out of 324. Trademark II is a Trademark x Harrell
bred by Brad Smith.
Currently, we have 75 ewes and 3 mature bucks. |
